thinking about booking a photo session with jenn lewis photography? let me give you an idea of how it all works, and what to do to best prepare for your session! i'll answer the most frequently asked questions too!
what to expect for...
PARENTS: i love working with high school seniors to create what they envision for their senior experience session! this is such a fun time… and likely the last time they'll have professional photos done before their wedding! so we definitely want to capture these moments for them… their personality, individuality, and their dreams for their future. we'll have a pre-shoot consultation to chat about what you and your senior want from their session. we'll discuss location ideas, what they can wear and bring along… i love personalizing these sessions for them, so i want to get to know your kid! SENIORS: i'd love it if you'd text me photos of the outfits you're bringing a day or two before the shoot! on the day of your session, we'll start by pampering you with professional hair and makeup! tell me ahead of time how you'd like your makeup and what you'd love to have done with your hair. after you're photo ready, we'll head out for the shoot. we typically hit up 3 locations for a senior experience session. plan to shoot in 4-5 outfits. bring more and we'll figure out what works best for your locations. bring accessories… hats, jewelry, sunglasses, scarves, jackets… whatever you love! i have a changing tent for on-location changing. if you follow me on IG, you've probably seen photos of it. :) i usually have an assistant with me for these shoots, and i'll bring some lighting along too. i can't wait to give you your "model for a day" experience! GUYS: no worries, you can skip hair and makeup. :) you'll get a $50 print credit in lieu of those services. sometimes you guys aren't as excited as the girls for these shoots, but you always end up having fun! tell me what you're into and we'll shoot it… sports? your car? let's make it happen!
this is all about the two of you! we'll chat in a pre-shoot consultation about the best location for your e-session. i want to know how and where you met, where you enjoy spending time together, and what fun things you like to do on the weekends! i don't want your session to look like everyone else's… i want it to be just for you! so let's get to know each other and decide what you'd like to do for your e-session… hint - the more fun activities involved, the better! we'll spend an hour or two together for your session. if you're not sure what you want to do, no worries… i'm here to help!
after the session:
in the days after your session, while you're waiting for me to prepare your images for your ordering session, i'd love for you to look around your home to get an idea of the spaces you'd like to fill on your walls. taking measurements is a bonus, and you're also welcome (and encouraged!) to email or text me photos of the spaces you'd like to fill with your custom art from your photo session. about 2 weeks after your photo session when i have your images ready to view, i'll contact you to schedule your ordering session. you'll come to my studio at the Broyhill building in Clemmons. i'll guide you through the ordering process and help you decide what products and sizes will work best to fill the space on your walls. i have samples here of various products that i offer through my professional lab, and if there's something particular you're looking for, don't hesitate to ask, as my lab most likely offers it. bring a list of friends and family you'd like to gift some prints to also… having all these things done ahead of time helps your ordering session to go smoothly and more quickly! plan for 1 - 1 1/2 hours for your ordering session.
what's in your gear bag (and what kind of bag is it?):
i *love* my ThinkTank Airport Takeoff camera bag! it carries all of my everyday gear. so... what's in my bag? i shoot with a Canon 5D Mark III and a Canon 6D. I have narrowed my lens collection down to 6... Canon 100mm f/2.8L macro lens, Canon 70-200mm f/2.8L IS II, Canon 35mm f/1.4L lens, and Canon 24-105mm f/4. i keep my Canon 85mm f/1.8 on hand also. i rarely use it anymore, but it's a great little lens, so i keep it as a backup. and just for fun, i picked up a Canon 15mm f/2.8 fisheye a few years ago and love to play with it! i also have several flashes… a Canon 600EX and 5 Yongnuo 600s. the other stuff won't fit in my bag, but i also have tons of other lighting (Phottix Indra 500, Alien Bee 800, 3 ringlights, a few Sweetlight Systems continuous kits (which i couldn't live without!), and lots of light modifiers) that i use in studio and on location. no one ever said photography was an inexpensive business!
do you photograph kids and families?
i do. sort of. :) i take kid and family sessions on a case by case basis, dependent on my schedule. i focus on seniors, couples/engagements, and weddings. i also will *always* photograph the kids and families of my loyal clients. several of you have been coming to me for years, and i will always make time for you. you are the reason i am here today, and i will always appreciate that!
