10 TIPS FOR PLANNING YOUR SESSION!
Tip 1: Be Formal
We want to capture a variety of your favorite looks, and your favorite formal style is a great option to capture. Guys: wear a suit. Ladies: wear a nice formal dress. Whether you have something from prom you'd like awesome photos in, or you want to pick up a stunning new option just for the shoot, you can't go wrong by getting fancy for a few shots.
Tip 2: Be Casual
We also want to capture your best "normal self". What's your favorite outfit and style when you're out with friends? This is a great opportunity to just be you! Let the camera capture you in your element, and show off how awesome you look every day!
Tip 3: Add Layers, Accessories and Props
By adding additional layers like jackets, scarves, and hats we're able to quickly change up looks on the go. Same goes for accessories like jewelry and sunglasses. Small stylish accents can go a long way! And by adding in props unique to your interests such as a coffee mug, favorite book, or instrument, you'll be able to add a small bit of flare to your images that is unique to you!
Tip 4 Rural Locations
Fancy yourself a "country girl"? Or just love nature and the outdoors? Let's find locations that portray your love of being outside! From old barns, to open fields, to flowers, to wooded areas - there's no limit to what we can come up with!
Tip 5 Urban Locations
Skyscrapers and city streets more your thing? Perfect! We have some amazing areas downtown that are great for that big city feel. We have everything from the sophisticated look of tall buildings, to the grunge look and urban decay. Epic opportunities abound!
Tip 6 Destinations
That's right! Senior destination shoots are a thing! There are some awesome locations around our local area, but if you want something truly exotic that literally NO ONE in your class will have (think deserts, mountains, beaches, forests, cliffs, monuments, etc), then let's get out of town. The best part, aside from the most epic senior photos in school, is that it may not cost you anything extra! Contact me if you want to learn more about how these work. Check out some examples here!
Tip 7 Professional Hair and Makeup
Who doesn’t love that perfect model look? The most important element of achieving it is having a professional do your hair and makeup. While you may be used to doing your own work for your everyday style, professionals are trained in what looks best for the camera. A few subtle changes can really elevate your look and take your images to a whole new level. That’s why your senior experience includes professional hair and makeup. It can mean the difference between “a nice picture” and an image worthy of a magazine spread. Once you've figured out the vibe you want to go for with your shoot, send me some photos of hair and makeup ideas that you love that work well with your outfits and locations!
Tip 8 Include Your Sports
You've spent a long time honing your prowess in your favorite sport or sports. Let's show it off! Bring your uniform, let's find a location that works for it, and make you look like a superstar! Every sport, whether it be basketball, hockey, football, golf, cheerleading, dance, baseball, softball, wrestling, track, etc. can look amazing with our special lighting and editing added!
Tip 9 Bring the Car!
Have a sweet new ride? Let's show it off! Maybe there's a great dirt road on your family's property or you'd love to get an epic shot on a rooftop downtown... let's make it happen!
Tip 10 Have fun with it!
This session is all about you, so we're going to customize it to be all about the things you love! Here are some ideas on other things we can include to make it perfect for you: Music theme with your favorite Beats headphones, favorite sports team, future college, favorite soft drink or coffee (Dr Pepper, anyone?), a shot with your huge shoe collection (or any other obsession!), or anything else that makes you YOU!
